Rear Deck Lid |
|
Hey guys, I was just surfing through the Thing Shop and found this...
Heath, it looks like these guys are selling the German Deck lid with the two ribs...
What are your thoughts on getting this one???
I was also thinking about sucking it up and buying all new top and sides from them as well.

Well, it has been a long time for any updates. Things are moving very slowly on the Thing build. With the spring offically sprung (I hope). Me and the boys at Metric are planning to get cracking on the Thing. We have only a little bit more of sandblasting to do and then its to primer.
I am am looking at taking a week off of work to get it all worked over once the primer is on and then its to paint (Sand Green, or maybe a slight bite grayer or maybe greener).
Then its off to the races to assembly. I have been working at home on some small thing. Back seats are all nice and new. Friday I plan to get the sandblaster out and get the front seats down to metal, painted and then skinned.
These nice days are really killing me knowing that I have this car sitting in the shape that its in.
Well thats all for now.

The Sandblaster parts are on order. Tool guy came in yesterday and got the order. Hopefully we will see them soon. This "Thing" is going to go together quick once the primer is sprayed.... Wartime look here we come! Gotta get this car outta here, especially so we can take it to the show in SC!

Well here is a little update.
The boys from metric were so kind to take a hour out of there busy day to trail the Thing to the house and help me get it into the garage and there its been for about three weeks now.
The plan is for me to take the time to knock out some of the body work (Blocking and skim coating) and put on a coat of filler primer and get it back to Metric for the final paint prep.
Now that the kids are back in school and Im not working 80 hour work weeks, I a hoping to have it done within the next month or two.
I will post some pics once I get one whole side compelted.

Well, I finally had a day that was not filled with taking the boys to this sport or that sport and not to mention one that was as nice as today.
So, I talked the boys into helping out and take the body off and started to work on getting the pan all cleaned up.
So here are some pics. I hope you like them.
Heres one of the finished body work, after the guys at Metric did the welding, I finished it off.
